Data Device Corporation has introduced two ultra-compact magnetics components that provide size and weight savings, enabling minimized package design and optimized system connectivity for line-replaceable units (LRU) on aircraft. One is a series of isolation transformers for data transmission and the other a data bus coupler.
“We often hear from OEM customers of a need for components that are smaller and lighter. To meet this need we developed these ultra-miniature transformers and couplers, enabling critical space and weight savings in both retrofit and new platform developments,” said Estro Vitantonio, business unit manager for the DDC Magnetics Group.
The new ULP series 1553 isolation transformers, shown at bottom of photo, are the world’s smallest single channel isolation devices, providing a 46% smaller size with 32% less weight than what was previously available, says the company. They enable LRU box manufacturers to fit them near edge connectors for more efficient data transmission and package design. The new DBM series data bus couplers utilize the world’s smallest coupler housing body at 1.1” long by 0.31” high, says DDC.
Based in Bohemia, New York, DDC designs and manufactures of high-reliability connectivity, power and control solutions for aerospace, defense, space, and industrial applications.
