discoverIE Group plc Acquires Sensing & Test Device Maker Burster   

discoverIE Group in the UK has acquired sensor manufacturer Burster Group of Germany for about €40 milion, adding another company to its portfolio with significant magnetic technology. As previously reported in Magnetics Magazine, discoverIE recently grew its Magnetics & Controls division with three acquisitions. Now, Burster, which has many products that involve inductive and magnetic functionality in its broad lineup of sensing and testing devices, will join the Sensing & Connectivity division of discoverIE.

Recently introduced flanged torque sensor with complete rotor and stator is one of many products from Burster for sensing and testing electromechanical systems. 

Founded in 1961, Burster produces specialist sensors including precision load cells, torque sensors, displacement and pressure sensors, and electronic measurement instruments for markets closely aligned with discoverIE’s target markets. Terms of the deal were €30.6 million cash plus an earn-out of up to €12.4m. Under its existing ongoing management and retaining its brand identity, Burster will join the group’s sensing cluster which includes six other businesses.
