
Spintronics developer NVE Corporation has launched the first parts in its new AHT9xx-20E line of ultraminiature wafer-level chip-scale package (WLCSP) magnetic switch sensors. Also, in a planned leadership transition, the company is promoting Peter Eames to be its new CEO.
The new switch sensor versions are designed for 1.5-volt battery supplies, and have ultralow power consumption without duty cycling. The 0.65 by 0.65 millimeter (0.025 by 0.025 inch) package is ideal for space-constrained applications and provides unmatched spatial sensitivity and precision.
The switches turn on when a magnetic field is applied and turn off when the field is removed. The applied field can be of either polarity, and the operate points are extremely stable over supply voltage and temperature. The open-drain outputs sink up to 100 microamps. The magnetic operate points are as low as 1.5millitesla. Models with one 2.2 and 3.2 mT operate points are currently in stock for immediate delivery. A 1.5 mT version is planned for future release.

Plans for the leadership change call for Daniel Baker to retire as president and CEO at the company’s annual meeting on August 6, 2026 and for Peter Eames, currently vice president of advanced technology, to become the new CEO. Baker will remain on the NVE board as chairman.

Baker joined NVE in 2001. During his tenure, the company grew from primarily contract research to a leading provider of advanced spintronics-based products. Eames has served in his previous role since 2016. He has been an NVE employee in various capacities since joining the company in 2003 after completing his Ph.D. in Experimental Condensed Matter Physics from the University of Minnesota.
