ASM Develops Displacement Sensors with Integrated Inclination Sensing

Equipped with multi-Hall sensor encoder technology, new Posiwire sensors from ASM Automation Sensorik Messtechnik combine linear position determination and inclination measurement into a single system. They can be applied to a number of situations where simultaneous measurement of both variables are important such as in telescopic crane booms, transport cranes, machines for the pharmaceutical industry and in medical equipment.

They are equipped with magnetic, non-contact multi-hall encoder technology and therefore much more robust than conventional draw-wire sensors with optical encoders or potentiometer solutions. The inclination position is determined by an integrated inclination sensor based on MEMS technology. They can be used in harsh environments, especially in mobile machines and feature redundant electronics for safety applications

Three models constitute the series. They measure linear positions up to 4,000 mm (WST61), 6,000 mm (WST85) and 20,000 m (WST21) and inclination in the range +/-180° in 1 axis.
