Wurth Elektronik Introduces New Components for Design Engineers

Magnetically shielded choke is made of newly introduced core material

Wurth Elektronik has developed two new components for design engineers, one a magnetically shielded bar core choke for automotive applications that is made of a newly introduced core material and the other an extension to its MagI³C-FDSM family of power modules for industrial applications.

Using the new core material, the high-current inductor, shown above, provides high current inductance with favorable saturation behavior. Extending the company’s WE-CHSA series, it has a current carrying capacity of up to 28A and an operating temperature range of range of 55 °C to +150 °C. The inductors are suitable as input filter chokes in engine control systems or infotainment systems.

MagI³C power module for 48V industrial voltage networks

The power module brings 74.5V versions to the company’s MagI³C-FDSM series. Now the fixed step-down regulator modules cover all bus voltages from 12V up to 48V. They facilitate development for applications with direct connection to bus voltages from 12V to 48V. The wide input voltage range up to 74.5V makes them robust against voltage transients on the 48V bus. They are fully integrated DC/DC voltage converters with fixed output voltage. Besides the power stage, the modules consist of a regulator, inductor as well as input and output capacitors.
