BLOCK Up and Running at New Transformer Plant near Shanghai

BLOCK Transformatoren-Electronics GmbH recently held the official opening of its new manufacturing plant in China. Located at Kunshan in Jiangsu province, the site covers 1,800 sq meters and will now accommodate the production, warehousing and distribution facilities of BLOCK Electronics (Kunshan) Co, Co Ltd. Headquartered in Germany, the company is a major global manufacturer of transformers, power supplies, electronic circuit breakers, reactors and EMI filters.

Udo Thiel, managing director of BLOCK, pictured in center, and Lars Ullenboom, co-managing director and president of BLOCK USA, joined the company’s China team led by Alex Meng, general manager, at the opening ceremony in January. The new facility continues the company’s internationalization strategy, said Thiel.

Over the next five years, around 100 new jobs will be created at the facility. It is located in a modern industrial center called German Industry Park that is already home to numerous German manufacturers. Kunshan has direct links to Shanghai.
