Bel Acquires CUI Components Business; Signal Unit Introduces New Toroidal Chokes

Bel Fuse, manufacturer of a diverse line of power electronics components, is acquiring the power components business of CUI Global for $32 million and, separately, its Signal Transformer unit has introduced a new line of toroidal chokes for power system designers.

“The CUI Power Business’ extensive product portfolio and distribution channel fits squarely within our growth strategy,” said Daniel Bernstein, CEO of Bel. Their product portfolio will round out Bel’s current power products offering, allowing us to better address all our customer power needs.” Based in Tualatin, OR, the CUI electromechanical business generates about $37 million in sales annually.

The divestiture by CUI meets its objective to become a public company platform through which to aggregate energy and telecommunications infrastructure operators to create a new market entrant in the North American energy services industry, said William Clough CEO.

Meanwhile, the new HCTC series of common mode toroidal chokes from Signal, a Bel company, was introduced to fit the needs of design engineers and manufacturers who specify power supplies accommodating common mode noise reduction and line filtering. Shown above, they feature a wide range of inductance and current ratings with a board layout that allows cooler running EMI/RFI filtering to be incorporated into multiple applications, including power supplies, LCD panels, computers and monitors, DC-DC converters and electric vehicle charging. Based in Lynbrook, NY, Signal makes a broad range of wire-wound magnetic components including linear magnetics, surface mount components and high frequency magnetics.
