Toyota Develops New Magnet for Electric Motors
Aiming to Reduce Use of Critical Rare-Earth Element by up to 50%
Toyota Motor Corporation announces that it has developed the worlds first neodymium-reduced, heat-resistant magnet. Neodymium magnets are used in various types of motors such as the high-output motors found in electrified vehicles, use of which is expected to increase rapidly in the future.

New World-record Magnet Fulfills Superconducting Promise
The National MagLab has announced a ground-breaking superconducting magnet designed and built at the lab reached a magnetic field of 32 teslas, a third stronger than the previous record and more than 3,000 times stronger than a small refrigerator magnet.

Scientists Discover a 2-D Magnet
A team led by the University of Washington and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology has for the first time discovered magnetism in the 2-D world of monolayers, or materials that are formed by a single atomic layer. The findings, published June 8 in the journal Nature, demonstrate that magnetic properties can exist even in the 2-D realm opening a world of potential applications.

Physicists Make Most Precise Measurement Ever of the
Protons Magnetic Moment
High-precision measurement of the g-factor eleven times more precise than before / Results indicate a strong similarity between protons and antiprotons.

Spontaneous Thoughts: Balance and Training
On-job-training is a longstanding approach, that seems to be working well enough in our industry. There is no shortage of graduates with technical degrees. The only downside is finding good people and the delay in getting a new person up to speed. But there are ways to shorten this time, which turns out to be a significant part of my business.
