Safety & Reliability in Nuclear Operations Key to Sensors from eddylab

Designing and manufacturing contactless inductive sensors that can withstand the severe rigors of a nuclear plant are familiar activities at eddylab GmbH in southern Germany. Recently, the company has introduced a new series for displacement and distance measurement that has been specifically developed for use in safety-critical applications and nuclear technology areas. The focus is on maximum reliability under extreme environmental conditions such as high radiation, temperature and pressure, even earthquakes.

The SXL sensors operate on a contactless, inductive measurement principle making them wear-free and maintenance-free for long-term operation. With graduated measuring ranges from 25 to 400 mm and an operating temperature of up to 370 °C, the series meets the highest standards for precision and robustness.

eddylab’s system solution

Virtually all regulatory-qualifiable components of the system solution – from the sensor to connecting elements to feedthrough and connection technology – are hermetically sealed, inorganic in construction, and designed for long-term use under extreme conditions including seismic effects of earthquakes.

Located in Otterfing about 30 km southeast of Munich, eddylab specializes in the development, design and production of sensors and systems for the measurement of geometric parameters. The product portfolio includes eddy current and inductive sensors, laser sensors, draw-wire sensors, digital gauges, magnetic tapes, and scales as well as displays, signal converters and other accessories for a wide range of industrial applications.
