MagREEsource, a French manufacturer of rare earth permanent magnets made from recycled scrap magnetic material, is expanding its factory in Noyarey near Grenoble. The additional 400m² will bring the total facility size to 1,500m² to support its commercial and technological development.

Erick Petit, CEO of MagREEsource
“Facing rapidly increasing demand, we have decided to expand our current site to integrate new production equipment to increase our capacities and finalize our vertical integration from upstream to metallization,” explains Erick Petit, CEO. “This is an essential step before the construction of the first MagFactory in 2028.”
“MagREEsource leads the EU industry in developing a rare earth magnet circular model that solves two main issues — sovereignty and sustainability. We convert end of life magnets from any industrial sources (EVs, Windmills or MRI and more) directly into high performance magnets for the European market. Unlike traders, MagREEsource buys NdFeB and SmCo magnets scraps within Europe’s borders, for its own needs while adding value to this secondary resource in re-manufacturing directly new low-carbon magnets thanks to its vertically integrated process.”
As reported earlier in Magnetics Magazine, MagREEsource opened its 50-ton per year pilot plant in 2023. A spin-off from the CNRS-Institut Néel in Grenoble, the company was established to manufacture high performance sintered magnets from recycled material using its patented technology developed there, which enables clean, short loop recycling by hydrogen. A research and development team next to the production site is continuing to develop 4-dimensional magnets printed by additive manufacturing. Central to its plans are extension of the pilot plant to a full-scale industrial operation, known as MagFactory, that would be scaled to a capacity of 500 tons per year.
Currently, MagREEsource purchases scrap magnets as feedstock. It seeks sintered magnets of any grade and size, magnetized or not, even if integrated in complete systems. For more info, see www.magreesource.com.
