Magnetic Encoder ICs flexibly rethought

iC-Haus presents its proven Hall sensor IC:  The iC-PVS combines a flexibly configurable Hall array front-end with a 56-bit low-power period counter and an integrated 6-bit interpolator. Battery-buffered, it can be used to implement multiturn absolute encoders that operate with conventional incremental scales or gear wheels. Due to the high mounting tolerances compared to classic absolute systems and freely scalable scanning diameters, the iC-PVS is an attractive alternative as a stand-alone solution for encoder systems with low to medium resolutions. Ultra-low power technology (2 to 30 µA) and an integrated battery monitor enable service-free operation for a minimum of 10 years.

iC-PVS supports pole wheels or linear scales with a pole width of 1.0 mm to 2.5 mm. Ferrous gear wheels with a gear module of 0.3 to 1.5 can be scanned using a back-bias magnet. With 128 signal periods, for example, angular resolutions of 13 bits can be achieved.

Due to BiSS-C, SPI, and both incremental and analog sin/cos interfaces, iC-PVS allows for operation either as a stand-alone encoder solution or in combination with an interpolator IC such as iC-TW29.
