Allstar Magnetics Acquires Coil Specialty Company, Expanding Capacity and Engineering Capabilities

Allstar Magnetics, a solution-based engineering and manufacturing firm specializing in ferrite distribution, custom-wound transformers/inductors, permanent magnets, and assemblies, today announced the acquisition of Coil Specialty Company, a State College, PA-based manufacturer known for custom coil winding, chokes, inductors, and transformers.

Coil Specialty brings decades of winding expertise to Allstar — solenoid, balun, and multi-layer winding for RF, power, audio, and sensing applications that few manufacturers can match. That expertise now sits alongside a stronger bench across the board: deeper engineering resources, a robust quality team covering process verification, manufacturing standards, endproduct testing, and the manufacturing capacity to back it all up. Together, that means faster turnaround and greater capacity for complex, custom programs.

Dena Arnold, who has served as General Manager of Coil Specialty for the past 27 years, will join Allstar’s sales team and continue to personally manage Coil Specialty’s existing customer relationships, while also helping connect and onboard new customers across Allstar’s broader base.

“This acquisition comes down to capacity and capability. Dena has built something customers trust, and now she’ll have the manufacturing capacity, engineering depth, and quality support to take on bigger, more complex programs without ever asking her customers to accept less attention than they’re used to. That commitment doesn’t change—it just gets more resources behind it.”

Tyee Harpster, President & CEO, Allstar Magnetics

“I am very excited to join Allstar Magnetics, not just for myself but for all my customers who will benefit from the expanded resources and capabilities. I look forward to continuing my current customer relationships and building new ones.”

Dena Arnold, General Manager, Coil Specialty Company
