Triad Magnetics, a power electronics and magnetic component manufacturer for more than 80 years, has opened a new production facility at its headquarters in southern California. In other recent news, it has promoted Ongela Starks to be sales manager, and announced that with its diversification of manufacturing plants in the Phillipines and the U.S., the vast majority of its customers should not become impacted by new trade tariffs.
“We’re extremely pleased to introduce our new U.S. manufacturing capabilities,” said Bill Dull, president of Triad. “This new facility focuses on custom products and will complement Triad’s Philippines factory that produces the majority of Triad’s products. Triad’s quality in this high-mix environment is second to none. Our California engineering team has the decades of experience needed to understand the requirements of any project, and now we have the U.S. production force in place to quickly turnaround any unique needs. With the recent increase in tariffs on imported goods, this expansion also offers a alternative for customers requiring domestic manufacturing.”
The expansion allows the company to offer both in-house engineering design services and on-site manufacturing, providing customers with small-batch, custom solutions made entirely in the USA. The buildout was completed in just nine months and represents an investment of more than $1.2 million.
A team of six full-time production specialists have been trained to work with the precise demands of small-scale components. Triad’s enhanced U.S. manufacturing capabilities now include automated winding, toroidal winding, planar assembly, fine wire winding, copper foil winding, termination/soldering, gapping, varnish and potting. The product mix available for custom manufacturing in the new facility includes audio, power, planar, toroidal and switch-mode transformers, also inductors and current sensors.

“Our entire production team is excited about this new, upgraded facility,” commented Sergio Pereda, production manager. “Being able to offer our customers high-quality, U.S.-made parts is something that each team member takes pride in. We look forward to expanding this segment of Triad’s overall product offering.”

In January, Triad promoted Ongela Starks to be sales manager. Now leading the sales team, she brings more than 30 years of global electronics industry experience to the position including 10 years previously as a territory manager for Triad.
Triad is headquartered in a modern, 38,000-square-foot facility in Perris about 70 miles southwest of Los Angeles. The Philippines plant is located in the suburban city of Carmona near Manilla and employs 1,200 people. There, Triad manufactures audio, current sense and various power transformers as well as inductors, chokes and custom magnetic components. It is equipped with state-of-the-art coil winding equipment as well as ferrite gapping machines, lamination welding equipment and automated testing devices. The plant is certified to some of the world’s most demanding performance and quality standards, including ISO 9001:2015, ISO14001 and TS 16949. See www.triadmagnetics.com.
