Following a period of substantial global growth and the award of a multimillion-pound contract to provide taping machinery to the U.S., Ridgway Machine is planning to expand its premises and workforce. Based in Leicester, UK, the maker of taping and winding equipment has also introduced several new high-speed taping machines recently.
“Ridgway has been providing expert engineering solutions for almost a century. These significant orders mark a real step forward in our plans for growth and are exciting not only for all the team at Ridgway but also to all those in our supply chain,” commented Stephen Hunt, CEO. “Our customers are global and the new orders represent the first of many as we support their strategic expansion over four continents.”
Gary Wharton, newly appointed production manager who has recently joined Ridgway, said, “I am really excited to be joining Ridgway Machines. I have many years experience in managing different engineering projects and looking forward to using my knowledge on the biggest project in Ridgway’s history.”
On the equipment side, the company has recently manufactured a new high-speed cable and conductor taping machine designed to accurately apply a variety of tape materials to cables and flat conductors. It has a single taping head and can apply one tape from flat pads or cross wound pads.
The whole line comes complete with pay-off reel stand, guide rollers, taping machine with pull through caterpillar, HMI control system, spark tester and take-up reel stand.
Another new product for the company is a high-speed cable and conductor taping machine for producing superconductor cable. It is designed to accurately apply superconducting tape materials such as Kapton to small diameter cables.
