New Catalog Features Full Selection of Lake Shore Gaussmeters and Hall Probes

Mar20_LakeshoreLake Shore Cryotronics has published a new, comprehensive catalog featuring its full selection of magnetic measurement solutions for manufacturing and research environments.

Available for download at www.lakeshore.com, the new Magnetic Measurement and Control Catalog includes Lake Shore’s complete line of benchtop and hand-held Hall effect gaussmeters; axial, transverse, tangential, and multi-axis Hall probes; fluxmeters; Helmholtz and search coils; electromagnets; and electromagnet power supplies.

The catalog is organized to help customers easily find a Hall probe for their specific application and selected gaussmeter. It includes reference tables listing the types of probes used most commonly in today’s test and measurement applications as well as tables showing differences between more specialized types of probes. Lake Shore has also increased the available catalog choices for customers who prefer a different probe stem length or cable length, eliminating the need for a custom quote or order.

In addition to providing guidance on how to choose the right equipment for a particular environment, the catalog explains how Hall probe technology can be used to accurately measure magnetic fields in assembly/quality control (QC) applications, particularly by manufacturers who produce magnets, magnetic assemblies and accessories that must hold to tight tolerances. Accurate testing, when done early in the manufacturing or assembly process, can help companies avoid costly rework at later stages of production.

Applications include:

  • validating performance of solenoids
  • confirming magnetic field characteristics versus applied current
  • mapping a magnetic field shape for a component or assembly
  • measuring fringe fields or residual fields
  • sorting tested products into groups according to magnetic strength and other characteristics

Gaussmeters and Hall probes are also used in university and commercial research labs, enabling scientists to study the magnetic properties of materials. These experiments can lead to the development of improved magnetic materials and devices for the medical, geology, energy, automotive and computing fields.

Along with instruments for testing, measuring and controlling magnetic fields, Lake Shore offers alternating gradient magnetometer (AGM) and vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM) systems for more advanced magnetic materials characterization. The AGM/VSM systems are used to characterize the DC magnetic properties of materials as a function of magnetic field, temperature and time, and are the best option for comprehensive characterization of magnetic materials.
