U. S. Steel Steps Up Production of NGO Electrical Steel at Big River Steel Facility
With a major new production line in operation at its Big River Steel facility in Arkansas, U. S. Steel has entered the market for electrical steel in a big way. Its new Indux™ steel is thin-sheet non-grain oriented electrical steel with carefully designed magnetic properties aimed particularly at serving the growing market for electric vehicle motors.
Magnetic Motion Tracking Brings New Capabilities to Medicine, Now Including Robotic Surgical Navigation
Continued advancements in electromagnetic motion tracking, now firmly established as a valued surgical tool, are bringing new capabilities to a wide range of applications particularly in medicine, defense and research. At the heart of the evolving technology are tiny, powerful magnetic sensors that the systems focus upon, coupled with advanced electronics and software that track them.
Proximity Effect Used to Synthesize Ferroelectric Materials
Ferroelectrics are special materials with polarized positive and negative charges — like a magnet has north and south poles — that can be reversed when external electricity is applied. The materials will remain in these reversed states until more power is applied, making them useful for data storage and wireless communication applications.
SRC Lines Up Feedstock for New Processing Plant in Canada Amidst Resolute Government Backing to Seize Economic Opportunity in Rare Earths & Magnet Production Domestically
The Saskatchewan Research Council is lining up supplies of feedstock to funnel into its new rare earth processing facility in central Canada that is aimed to catalyze a mines-to-magnet supply chain for the country. In recent moves it has forged agreements with Hung Thinh Group to import rare earth carbonate from Vietnam and purchased $3 million worth of stockpiled rare earth material from Vital Metals – adding to previously arranged supplies to come from Commerce Resources’ Ashram property near Quebec.
