Gabriel Performance Products, a specialty chemicals company that makes coatings and adhesives for the manufacture of electrical motors and transformers, continues its growth path of acquisitions that now add up to its sixth in as many years. The latest deal is the purchase of the remainder of the alkyd resin product line of Deltech Resins Company, following an earlier acquisition from Deltech.
A manufacturer of coatings, adhesives and composites, Gabriel will produce the Deltech products at its facility in Harrison City, PA, home of its Ranbar products. Gabriel’s electrical varnishes are sold under Ranbar and Ultimeg brands. They serve the electrical distribution component, OEM motor design, and electric motor repair end markets. Available in water-solvent, solvent-based, and pigmented coatings, the varnishes feature high voltage, wet winding formulas that use UI 220 class epoxy and a high build core plate. They can be used to manufacture or repair transformer coils, electrical components, and electrical windings.
The Deltech deal was Gabriel’s sixth acquisition since 2014 when it became an investor owned portfolio company of Audax Private Equity. Gabriel is headquartered in Akron, OH. It acquired Ranbar in 2017 which became Gabriel’s third manufacturing site in North America. In October 2019, it made an earlier acquisition of Deltech alkyd resin products.
