NEWTON, KS Bunting Magnetics Co., the leader in moving, removing and holding metal, recently announced that it will extend its product line to include N52 sintered neodymium magnets, the highest strength grade of rare earth magnets. The magnets will be sold on-line through its e-commerce website www.buymagnets.com.
Neodymium magnets have allowed engineers in many industries to miniaturize their products, said Robert Bunting, General Manager, Magnet Materials Division. A stronger grade allows a smaller magnet to be used to achieve the same purpose as before.
Beginning with the grade N27, neodymium magnets were introduced more than 15 years ago. After several advancements, the industry standard is now the N42; however, the N52 is 10-15 percent more powerful. It is an emerging market and the magnets are used in a wide variety of applications, including sensors, switches, holding assemblies, security and communications devices.
A stronger grade allows a smaller magnet to be used to achieve the same purpose as before, Bunting explained. This could apply from things like electronics to sensors to medical devices. Neodymium magnets have no limit to the number of applications.
Bunting carries the largest selection of N52 magnets in the industry. The inventory includes a variety of sizes for plugs (including plugs with adhesive backing), disks, cylinders, rectangles, rings and countersunk rings. They are available in thickness from .060 inches to 3 inches thick.
Bunting Magnetics Co. lowers prices on N42 magnets.
In addition, Bunting also announced that it has lowered prices on grade N42 magnets and now offers the lowest priced N42 magnets in the industry. After conducting extensive market research, the company made the decision to adjust prices to ensure that it is approximately 5 percent lower across the board than any major competitor.
