Abracon, a maker of magnetic and other passive components, has acquired Fox Electronics, a frequency control supplier headquartered in Fort Myers, Florida. It is the latest in a series of acquisitions by Abracon in recent years.
“We are very excited about the addition of Fox Electronics to Abracon’s industry leading offering of frequency and timing products,” said Mike Calabria, president and CEO of Abracon. Fox Electronics is a well-recognized brand that customers have become familiar with over the past 40 years.” With the deal, Abracon continues to execute on its acquisition strategy to expand its portfolio of brands with Fox being added to its other brands ILSI, Ecliptek, MMD and Oscilent.
Based in Spicewood, Texas near Austin, the company provides a growing array of passive components including timing-frequency control, magnetic-inductor, RF-antenna and connectivity products with a strong focus on Internet of Things solutions through a global distribution network.
Its magnetics portfolio includes inductors, LAN transformers, wireless charging coils, ferrite beads and chips. In a white paper, “Abracon Ethernet Solutions: Understanding Ethernet Magnetics Features and Design Considerations,” Gerald Capwell, senior product engineer explains how an Ethernet interface component from the company achieves an integrated design. By integrating the magnetics inside the connector, it provides a solution for high density designs where PCB real estate is a premium, while simplifying the board design and routing.
