Ultra-Low Power TMR Sensors from Coto Feature High Magnetic Sensitivity

Extremely strong magnetic sensitivity yet ultra-low power consumption are key features of tunneling magnetoresistance sensors developed by Coto Technology. The most recent in its RedRock series has magnetic sensitivity of 30G or 3mT yet is rated at a power consumption that the company says is the world’s lowest for an active magnetic sensor.

The RedRock RR122-1B12-511 / 512 is a wafer-based TMR digital omnipolar sensor. It features an operating frequency of 2 Hz, a voltage supply range of 1.7V to 5.5V along with its strong magnetic sensitivity in an ultra-miniature package size. Power consumption is rated at 50 nA.

The series is ideally suited for performing the wake up or turn on function for battery operated and power sensitive applications. Available in either a tiny 1.45 x 1.45 x .45mm LGA-4 device package or an industry standard SOT-23-3 package, it can fit well into space-constrained applications such as insulin management, ingestible, and implantable devices that all need to be hermetically sealed. Standard operating temperature ranges from -40°C up to +85°C, although an upgraded version allowing high temperature operation of up to +125°C is also available. For more info, see www.cotorelay.com
