Seiko Instruments, Inc. (SII) announced the release of the S-57P1 series of bipolar latch type hall effect sensor ICs that is suited for automotive applications requiring high performance, reliability and accuracy. Typical applications include automotive motors for fans and power steering.
The S-57P1 series features a wide operating temperature range of -40°C up to 150°C, a wide operating voltage range from 2.7 V to 26.0 V, and high magnetic accuracy of ±1.0 mT.
The bipolar latch type hall effect sensor ICs detect magnetic field changes and output a high or low voltage level depending on the field strength and polarity. The combination of sensors and magnets allows designers to create applications that operate based on rotation detection.
The S-57P1 series has high operating temperature up to 150°C and junction temperature up to 170°C, which enables the use in applications around an engine. The magnetic accuracy of ±1.0 mT improves design flexibility and contributes to total solution cost reduction through the use of smaller magnets. There are multiple options for magnetic sensitivity including 0.5±1.0mT, 1.5±1.0mT, 2.2±1.0mT, and 3.0±1.0mT. The S-57P1 Series is available in the small SOT-23-3S (2.9×2.8×1.2mm) and AEC-Q100 certification is in process.
SII also provides a No Cost magnetic simulation consulting service to support customer’s system designs including magnet and relative dimension / location recommendations.
In addition to automotive applications, the S-57P1 series can also be used in any application needing high temperature and wide operating voltage.
