M Wave Design Acquired by Quantic as It Builds EM Technology Platform

M Wave Design, a supplier of ferrite-based radio frequency and microwave components for aerospace, defence and quantum computing applications, has been acquired by Quantic Electronics, a portfolio company of Arcline Investment Management, intent on building an electromagnetic technology platform in its portfolio of companies.

Quantic is also the parent company of Quantic ECI, a manufacturer of passive magnetic components for mission-critical power applications including sensor and antenna coils, planar magnetics, space magnetics and transformers. In 2021, Quantic acquired ECI Transcon Technologies, a manufacturer of custom electromagnetic components that specializes in passive magnetic components for a wide range of markets including aerospace, automotive, avionics, communications, consumer, industrial controls, marine, medical, military and power supplies. As reported earlier in Magnetics Magazine, the move was described as Quantic’s first step in establishing an electromagnetic technology platform.

Founded in 1988, M-Wave designs and manufactures passive waveguide and coaxial components, including isolators, circulators, adapters and terminations. The company has a long history of supporting leading-edge development in high power and low loss passive designs. M-Wave’s product portfolio is uniquely positioned to supply components that perform at cryogenic temperatures used in quantum computing applications.

“We are delighted to add M-Wave to the Quantic portfolio of businesses,” said Ross Sealfon, CEO of Quantic. “The M-Wave product portfolio perfectly complements our current product line up. Additionally, M-Wave’s deep expertise in quantum computing and long history supporting military and space programs further enhances our ability to solve our customers’ difficult design challenges. “We have proudly served the RF and microwave industry for almost forty years,” said Ken Boswell, CEO of M-Wave. “As part of Quantic, we are excited to further advance our product, technology, and growth goals to better support our customers.”

Quantic is an electronic component company focused on mission-critical electronics with over a century of combined experience in military, aerospace, industrial and commercial markets. Arcline is a growth-oriented private equity firm with $8.9 billion in cumulative capital commitments. For more info, see www.quanticnow.com and www.arcline.com
