ITG Electronics Introduces 300VAC NanoCrystal Common Mode Chokes for Higher-Voltage Power Systems

C201371B Series delivers compact, low-loss EMI filtering with 30-60% space and weight savings versus ferrite-based alternatives.

ITG Electronics, a leading manufacturer of magnetics and EMI filters, has introduced its C201371B Series of 300VAC NanoCrystal common mode chokes (CMCs), providing a compact, efficient EMI filtering option for modern higher-voltage electronic systems.

An expansion of ITG’s 250VAC C201371A Series, the new C201371B family increases the voltage rating to 300VAC. The upgrade helps designers address more demanding operating conditions, increase safety margins against transient surges, and support compliance with applicable safety standards, including UL/IEC 60938-2 and IEC 62368-1.

The series uses nanocrystalline core material, produced by rapidly cooling molten metal to create crystals with grain sizes on the nanoscale. The material’s high permeability enables designers to achieve the required inductance with fewer winding turns. In turn, the chokes can provide lower direct current resistance (DCR), helping reduce power loss and improve overall system efficiency.

Compared with ferrite-based common mode chokes, the C201371B Series can save approximately 30-60% in space and weight. This combination of smaller size, lower weight and reduced DCR makes the series particularly well suited to power electronics designs in which thermal performance, efficiency and board space are critical considerations.

Available in through-hole configurations, the C201371B Series spans inductance values from 0.4mH to 11.0mH, DCR values from 20.0 mOhm to 380.0 mOhm, and maximum current ratings from 4.5 to 0.9 amperes (A). The components are designed for AC-to-DC converters used in industrial equipment and automotive applications, as well as other commercial and consumer electronics requiring compact common-mode noise suppression.

By combining a 300VAC rating with nanocrystalline-core performance, the new series gives engineers added flexibility to meet higher-voltage requirements without accepting the size and weight penalties associated with conventional ferrite-core designs.
