Normet Expands SmartDrive Platforms for Underground Mining
Normet, a developer and manufacturer of battery-electric underground mining equipment, has launched two new SmartDrive platforms, one for its smaller vehicles, another for its large sizes. A key element of the Finnish company’s electrodynamic technology is that the need for a driveshaft and gearboxes are eliminated through driving the externally cooled mining axles directly with permanent magnet motors in a highly efficient direct-drive configuration.

Components for EV Power & Propulsion Systems Deliver Maximum Electrification Properties With Magnetic Metals’ Tape Wound Toroidal & Cut Cores

Our cores provide the essential magnetic properties and efficiencies required for:

  • Transformers that power EV Charging Stations,
  • Transformers that control & monitor AC induction & DC motor performance
  • Power supplies that charge EV battery packs,
  • GFCI’s used in Electric Vehicles,
  • Inductors, converters & inverters

Utilize our tape wound toroidal & cut cores that are specifically designed to achieve the near-perfect magnetic circuits that outperform transformer laminations while minimizing electrical losses, reducing component size & weight, and increasing power density.

In addition, we use the most advanced grades of soft magnetic materials, provide short turnaround times, and offer both standard and custom cores.
