Welding on antennas to communications towers, and attachments for offshore wind turbines and oil & gas platforms can be a tricky, dangerous task rife with high winds and cold, fierce conditions. That’s why many OEMs and site operators have turned to Scandinavian company Engiso for its series of strong neodymium attachment magnets and industrial products carefully designed for reliability and ease of use in extreme environments.
A Danish engineered solutions company, Engiso is comprised of advanced engineers, project managers and consultants shaped by the demands of the Nordic offshore and onshore wind energy sectors. They are located in Esbjerg, a seaport city bordering the North Sea in southwest Denmark. More than 4 million of its systems have been installed worldwide.
Their key product, the Engiso V-Mag, is a non-penetrating magnetic alternative to conventional welding, first developed about 12 years ago. Using neodymium magnets, Engiso engineers have designed it so the magnetic force is not lost over time, can be installed quickly and provides superior corrosion resistance. At a size of 94x34x17mm, the V-Mag-70 has a lifting capacity of 70 kg. Its big brother, the V-Mag-340 sports a lifting capacity of 340 kg and measures 175x60x21mm.
In the case of an antenna, the V-Mag importantly does not disrupt the communications signal when mounted on a tower and can be easily moved by transferable installation. Required mounting bracket designs must be adaptable in order to capture curvature of tower domes or other base shapes.
Engiso offers many types of manufactured solutions – transferable to wind power, telecommunications, maritime, oil and gas, and defense markets – that can be easily deployed into a current business, system or process.
The Engiso P-Tool is a magnetic tie-off anchor point and fall restraint solutions utilized in markets during construction, commissioning, or maintenance. The P-Tool magnetic property eliminates the need for welding or other expensive tie-off solutions. For more info, see www.engiso.com.
